CONTINUITY started as a question I could not stop asking: what happens to the people I love if I never get around to naming them? Marcus is a stand-in for every self-made person who confused being the signal for being the infrastructure. He is proud, private, and until the accident, unfileable. The film's villains aren't villains — they're forms, boards, and protocols doing exactly what they were designed to do. Its heroes aren't heroic — they are, mostly, tired. What I wanted to make was a science-fiction thriller where the only weapon anyone reaches for is a signature. What I hope you take from it is the quiet, uncool discipline of writing down who is yours before you cannot.
I wrote this script because I have watched too many families discover, in the worst week of their lives, that love does not automatically become paperwork. Marcus's neural implant is a metaphor for anyone who has run their whole life on a single point of failure — themselves. Imani is not a plot twist. She is the reason the third directive has to exist. Danielle is not a widow. She is a woman who refuses to let the system decide who her husband was allowed to include. If the film works, you leave the theater and open your notes app. That's the only ending I care about.
